Who We Are
Welcome to EngReaders, an educational platform designed by a team of experienced teachers specializing in English as a second language in Turkey. This resource is tailored for kindergarten and primary school children, but it is also perfectly suitable for older children and adults embarking on their English learning journey.
At EngReaders, we adopt a foundational approach that mimics the natural language acquisition phases of early childhood. Recognizing the importance of a broad vocabulary, our Starter Level immerses learners in rich auditory experiences, allowing them to hear and internalize words numerous times. This method replicates the ‘silent period’ of the first two years of a child’s life, focusing initially on listening before reading. Although as soon as the children are able to read, reading will further aid their full acquisition of the language.
As learners develop their vocabulary, they advance to constructing short phrases and simple sentences, drawing parallels with the texts found in our Level One books. In the first two levels, reading is not emphasized, allowing children to purely absorb language through listening, supported by vivid and clear illustrations to aid comprehension.
We firmly believe that genuine language learning involves engaging with ample, comprehensible input in both auditory and textual formats. Similar to first language acquisition, there is no need to introduce grammar; instead, learners naturally discern and assimilate the patterns of English, fostering authentic and lasting language mastery.
Each book on our platform is complemented by related videos and games, enhancing enjoyment and reinforcing learning. Recognizing the extensive time children invest in learning their native language, our site is crafted to encourage a substantial, engaging, and independent learning experience.
Looking ahead, we are excited to develop Levels 2, 3, and 4, which will maintain our commitment to rich vocabulary input within interesting and engaging texts. These levels will continue to support learners in acquiring English in a natural and enduring way.
